8 Things From The Trigger Bang Video

Before I start, if you haven't watched the video yet, please do that before reading this and spoiling the masterpiece for yourself. Also check your priorities, the video was released at 2pm today and you still haven't watched it?!

Finally. After (sadly) Lily Allen's comeback single was leak on a Chinese streaming service she was forced to release it early last month with no promo or video ready. But Lily and feature on the song, Giggs, have managed to make a music video which dropped today. This is one of my favourite videos EVER. I thought maybe it would have been rushed but that is not the case, clearly a lot of thought, time and effort has been put into the video and it has paid off. I love the fact you get to see a young Giggs and a young Lily in the video.

So now I'm going to talk about some of the easter eggs in the video.

1. A copy of Alright, Still

Although only being on the screen for a second or two, this is probably the easiest easter egg to spot. But the reference goes deeper than just Lily's first album being in a draw of her latest video. Lily did a post for i-D VICE last month which revealed that Giggs was a big fan of her first album 'Alright, Still', the first time they met at a festival after her set, he said to her, “I came all this way to see you, you didn't even play my tunes. What about all the first album stuff? That was my album, still”. In the music video it is a young Giggs in his room with a copy of the album showing he has been a fan since the start.

2. URL Batman

Okay maybe this one is a long shot. In the video a young Giggs is wearing a batman hat. Lily's last single before she took a break was URL Badman. And among fans was often jokingly called URL Batman, Lily even posted an edit by fan on her instagram. This is probably just a coincidence but I like to think it's a small link from her last single to her latest single.

3. LDN Earrings

In Lily's music video for LDN she is rocking some pretty big golden hoops and in the music video for Trigger Bang, young Lily picks up a pair of earrings and puts them in, they look identical to the pair in the LDN vid. With her eyeliner, bangs, trainers and prom dress too it feels like '06 all over again.

4. Smile on TV

I think this is my favourite easter egg. In the background a TV is on which you can see is playing the music video for her first official video, Smile.

5. 22 Bathroom

Wait. I think this is my favourite easter egg! A scene in this video is filmed in the same bathroom that the 22 music video is filmed in.

Even the mirror is the same! This time there isn't a push and a shove, Lily only has to share the mirror with one person. But surely Sheezus herself deserves her own mirror!?

6. Lilies

Another long shot here. Could the flowers behind Lily be lilies? Probably not but I like the thought.

7. That cafe looks familiar

I don't know if the cafe in this video is the same cafe in the Smile video, I don't think so but is definitely has that vibe.

Lily's swapped her frown for a smile, that toxic boyfriend and toxic past in behind her, only positivity and laughs with Giggs. Which is really what the song is about.

8. Sheezus?

With a lack of references to the Sheezus era in the video maybe Giggs jumper is trying to make up for them? Again probs not but thanks anyway Giggs.
