Rememberable September

Another nonstop month has flown by! August feels like a life time ago! I am so tired, but aren’t we

all?! I think everyone I’ve spoken to this week is shattered, big up you if you’re not! Please tell me your secret. So this month saw my return to university, which has been hectic but brill!

One of my highlights this month had to be doing the young campaigners programme with Stonewall. I went for a residential weekend and met some really amazing people. I am now working on my campaign which I will need ALL of you to help me with. I am so excited, so watch this space!

This month also marks my 1 year anniversary of No1Blog, No1 is 1! September 2016 I launched unsure whether I would keep it up or not, but here I am a year later. And I ain’t planning on going anytime soon. I’m 99% sure I will be changing the way I do the blog next year, which is something you can lose sleep with excitement over.

I am yet to feel settled in Farnham, I love uni life and I love home uni, it’s the transition which is the worst bit. I love routine, but due to being in Dorchester, Wolverhampton, Reading, 3 trips to London this month and I am now just off to catch a train to Bristol for the rest of the weekend, I am yet to have gotten into a routine. But ya know I lowkey love it.

Now this month’s No1GuestBlogger is someone who’s had their eye on being NO1GB for a while and I’ve had my eye on them since the beginning of the year and I am so glad they are here!! Incase you missed it on all my socials earlier this month, it’s Milly!!! So without further to do, I’m passing you over to September’s No1Guestblogger, Milly May.

September's No1GuestBlogger - Milly

Hello gorgeous people! My name is Milly Rose May Moggeridge (or just mills) I’m 19 and so excited to be this months No1 guest! I met Harry in college and have been obsessed with him ever since; a true Queen! I’m currently studying Acting at Art’s University Bournemouth (AUB) and I’m about to go into my second year. I’m a lover of food, clothes, cats, and things that shine!

No1 Food: It’s got to be a roast dinner and not one of those pale looking roasts you get in pubs. A proper roast with all the trimmings and not an Aunt Bessie Yorkshire pudding or roast potato in sight!

No1 Quote: “Don’t be like the rest of them Darling” – Coco Chanel (I think) and “Feel the fear and do it anyway”. Sorry, I know that’s two!

What annoys you the most: People who are ungrateful, spoilt, and lazy. Particularly if they are my age. Can’t stand it…

What would your 15 minutes of fame be for: Probably for trying to hug a lion and somehow surviving…I just love them so much! I wanted to live in Africa when I was younger…Still might, maybe…

No1 Song of All Time: This is a really difficult one… I’ll have to say, ‘A change is gonner come’ – Sam Cooke. Anything by him and Wham is my favourite. RIP George… (never getting over it).

No1 Song at the moment /this month/right now: ‘Don’t hurt yourself’ – Beyonce. I can’t stop playing it, she’s just amazing. Harry saw her live without me but let’s not get into that 😉.

Social Media Usernames: My instagram is millyrosemay and my snapchat is millymogg…so original!

No1 Moment of this Month;

This month has been pretty much me sorting my life back out for University and moving back to Bournemouth. Luckily, I had the help of my two best mates Harriet and Ellen, shout out to my hoes 😉. They packed pretty much everything away for me and then we ordered the best chinese, chilled out and laughed loads. Which was exactly what I needed! They stayed over for a few nights, we shopped, ate, and spilled an ungraceful amount of tea. We can always rely on CroAD (ells) to provide the goss. This might not seem like the most exciting moment ever but being at Uni means we don’t see each other all that often. We’ve been best mates for something like 14 years I think!

Something I HAVE to talk about;

I’ve seen people going to quite a few of these recently particularly as we’ve just had summer. But I cannot stand horse racing. Or any sport involving animals when it comes to it. Horse racing to me is just completely unnecessary and almost weirdly twisted. The idea that people bet and drink all day wearing expensive outfits whilst these poor animals are being forced into a sport that isn’t healthy for them just doesn’t sit well with me. Half the time the people going don’t know the first thing about betting or horses they just go because they want to show off and pretend to be “fancy” for the day. I don’t think people realise that this sport kills horses, regularly. I love to get dressed up and go out with friends for a nice meal and glass of prosecco. But you’ll never catch me doing it at the races.

And don’t even get me started on fox hunting…or real fur coats!

Thanks for reading, back over to Harry!

No1 Unpopular Opinion of the Month

I feel like looks not mattering in a partner was a popular opinion but now it seems to becoming the opposite. I’ve heard many people I know, including my friends, say that appearance is an important factor when looking for a relationship. Which has always worried me. I’ve also heard people say, only ugly people say they don’t care about looks, so hi I’m ugly and I don’t care about looks. I aint just saying this, I honestly do not have a type, I have been attracted to people of all different shapes, shades and styles. (Styles really aint the right word but ya know the rule of three and that)

I have met people before and thought wow you’re beautiful and then got to know them and they have been really horrible people and then they are no longer beautiful, it's so weird, but I think it’s because when you look at them you think of all the horrible things they’ve done and you’re like nah. In the era of tinder (which I have to admit, I previously have had. I am not app shaming) and apps as such where you say yes or no depending on the pic, you are saying no to someone before they even say hi. I know people who have gone on dates or even gone out with someone, and maybe more subconscious than anything, are only seeing that person because of their appearance. If that person wasn’t ‘hot’ they wouldn’t be with them, because their personality is flat and the convo is dry and literally all they’ve got going for them is their appearance. This is an over talked about topic and something we’ve all heard but next time you swipe right or are seeing someone, think if this person wasn’t ‘hot’ would I still be interested? Have they got more to offer me, do they make me laugh, is it worth it? Finally, remember, beauty comes within.

No1GuestBlogger Milly’s opinion on my opinion;

I do believe you should never be with someone just because of the way they look because surely that’s the most boring, unfulfilling relationship ever? Looks fade! However, I do feel that being attracted to your partner is very important too. To me sexual attraction plays an important part in a relationship. But like Harry said you can meet someone who is on the outside “beautiful” then when you really get to know them their face is suddenly something you no longer want to look at.

For me being attracted to someone based on just their looks from the moment you meet them is fine because in that moment that’s all you have. However, if you then go on to realise you have nothing in common, you don’t really click or care for each other then that’s the time to call it quits. To stay with them after realising those things just because they are “good looking” is crazy. I personally feel you only properly become attracted to someone once you’ve hit the ‘love’ stage. This is because you’re attracted to their traits, personality, strengths, and weaknesses. Beauty definitely comes from within!

What did you guys have to say?

Each month I do a twitter poll to see what you guys think, I hashtag with #NO1UO.

I am disappointed in you guys! But then again this is the whole point of an unpopular opinion;)

No1 Lesson of the Month

Alone time is important. Don’t get me wrong I am a very sociable person and keeping yourself around people and being busy is important and often good for your mental health. But alone time is under valued and we all need it. Take some time, preferably daily, if not, definitely weekly, to check in with yourself and clear your head ready for the day ahead or the next day depending when you do it. Going out with friends is super important but a night in, is also important. Find the balance, which is different for all of us. But do not underestimate the power of a alone time, no one gets you like you.

September Is Over, WAKE UP

Or if you’re as tired as me, go to sleep. Last month I talked about how I feel September is the start of a new year and it definietly does, new year, same me with a few improvements, As an activist, I found this quote by Leo Tolstoy very interesting, "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." I mean it's true, it's like what Micheal said, you gotta start with that man in the mirror. FYI I'm still planning on changing the world my No1s so do not fear!! But thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a spooky October, I need to get costume planning! And a big thank you to Milly, you were fabulous obvs, I have got three more No1s lined up for you for the final three months of the year.

Now remember be number one, not no one xo
