As a white male living in a first world country it’s impossible not to feel privileged but this week I feel even more so. As we feel everything from heartbreak to guilt to anger, it’s time to use our privilege.

Like I said I am feeling so many emotions right now about the Grenfell Tower fire. It is so devastating and heart-breaking. The mainstream media have just official reported 30 dead but sources, policemen and firemen in the area are saying much closer to 150, could even pass 200. So many people are missing, where are they? The media are trying to play down the number of deaths to prevent any riots happening because the government knows it’s done wrong. It’s disgusting. I just cannot stop thinking about these poor people. I can’t even begin to imagine those people on those top floors, with no way out, burning to death and having to watch their love ones do the same, unimaginable. And for the survivors, having to deal with their injuries, the trauma of having experienced that and to have lost everything they own. I don’t know what else to say, because everything has been said and there is only so much you can say. Completely devastating. I am very disappointed and angry with the council who let this happen and the government need to treat this very seriously.

Now to some people that are good at talking. Here are some links of some interviews about the tragedy that are really worth watching, so many interviews about but I’ve picked 3 must sees!

First is Lily Allen’s Channel 4 interview from yesterday. Lily lives near by and has been helping everyday with donations, and this is a really powerful and educational interview.

This is one of the first interviews I saw, it’s from the morning after the tragedy from a young guy speaking only the truth.

Finally for now is a livestream video that Lily shared today of a women in the area which is super interesting, she says a lot of thought-provoking things.

So the important part! Helping. If like me you live far away from London and/or have a job or for whatever reason can’t get down to the location you can feel helpless but here’s 3 simple and easy things you can do!

  1. Donate! No matter how small the donation. I have picked this site as it is the site I donated to and this site DOUBLES your donation! https://secure.thebiggive.org.uk/grenfell

  2. Sign this petition to make sure the government carries out an inquest on the tradgey! https://www.change.org/p/uk-parliament-this-government-must-carry-out-an-inquest-into-the-grenfell-tragedy-not-a-public-inquiry?recruiter=137904240&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=share_petition&utm_term=share_petition

  3. SHARE! Whether it is the two links above or other information about what’s happened, it’s so important.

Thank you for reading and please share so we can all pull together and help the victims and make sure this never happen again.

I would like to dedicate this post to every person that lost their lives in the fire, rest in peace x
