Sweet April Showers

April was another busy month, split 50/50 between Dorchester and Farnham which was really nice. The first week of the month I finished my Shakespeare & Tarantino unit with our final performance. Also, I actually fell for an April Fool’s! It was an article by Pink News which I didn’t realise was an April Fools till about 2 weeks later when I told two of my best friends, Olivia and India, that the UK was leaving Eurovision. They were shocked, because they are both big Eurovision fans and hadn’t heard anything. I was very pleased to find out it wasn’t true! Then I came home for two weeks for Easter and had the best time and so many laughs catching up with family and friends. Then for the last week of the month I went back to Farnham to start the final unit of the first year, which is crazy! This month we also found out there's gonna be a general election which is... Expect to hear more from me on that soon. Also Doctor Who is back YAY!! I feel like so many other iconic things have happened this month but I'm too tired to remember, I need more hours in a day. But anyway, grab some food, sit down and please enjoy April's post!

No1 moment of this month;
This could be anything, just describe your favourite moment of this month: (3 to 5 sentences) On Sunday 9th my parents impromptu decided to have a bbq. BBQ’s are not half hearted in my house, there is always enough to feed about 1000x people . So I invited my two best friends over, one of who is at Cardiff uni, so hadn’t see in a couple of months, and the other who works shifts, so hadn’t seen in a couple of weeks. Then my parents invited their friends, so there was about 8 of us all crammed into my tiny garden, sitting around my tiny table eating off paper plates and drinking jugs of pimms and lots of prosecco. It wasn’t anything too crazy, as hungover from the night before, but was so nice catching up with everyone. I love this time of year, as more sunny days make everyone excited that summer is on the way.
Something I HAVE to talk about;
Last summer I was working as a waitress, serving tables and refilling drinks is definitely not something that I enjoyed, but a job is a job I guess. Anyway after a few months of doing this, I got bored, as I usually do after a few months in a job, and decided to go on an adventure. I had zero money, speak no languages, and didn’t want to be too far away from home in case something went wrong. So I found a family on aupairworld.com, skyped with the mum a few times, and decided to book a flight and move to Dublin. Au pairing is essentially a form of cheap childcare, but GREAT for people like me, who have no money and want to travel on the cheap. The arrangement was for me to look after a 6 year old, a three year old, and a eight month old (I know), and in return I get a bedroom, food, all necessary essentials, and weekly ‘pocket money’ . So I handed in my week resignation, told my parents, and booked a one way ticket to Dublin Airport. Obviously it was so nerve wrecking, but Dublin is an incredible city, and I made such great friends, who I’m still in frequent contact with from all over the world. Obviously living in a house with three children who scream at 6am, when you’re dying in bed from the night before, having only arrived back home an hour ago, does have its falls, but it was an amazing experience which I could not recommend anymore. Unfortunately for me, things with the family I chose weren’t quite as they seemed, so I had to book an emergency flight home in December, instead of February, when my contract was supposed to end. But I guess that’s just another lesson and something I’ve now learned from. Au pairing is a great way to travel for pretty much free, and although I didn’t, I know people who have such tight bonds with their au pair families, it quickly becomes like a second home, which is sometimes exactly what you need, when you’re thousands of miles away from your real one.
Thanks for reading, back over to Harry!
No1 Unpopular Opinion of the Month
I hate alcohol. For anyone who doesn't know, I don't drink alcohol. "Why?" I hear you scream, well I'm a fussy eater/drinker, like I'm really bad with flavours, if I don't like something I can't eat/drink it. Basically I'd be that bitch that overreacts SO much when doing a bush tucker trial. So firstly I don't like the taste of alcohol, so straight away it's a no from me. But of course it's me so there's more. Secondly I'm broke, I mean aren't we all?! Like when I think about it I'm actually SHOOK that people (especially students) can afford to drink as much alcohol as they do!?!?!! I have £0, if I drank alcohol I'd have even less! Finally and I guess most importantly, I don't trust myself hahahah, I do crazy stuff sober, like when I'm out and dancing like a less talented Louie Spence, people can't believe I'm sober, I really do get high off the vibes and the atmosphere. (me 2) Also the music plays a MASSIVE part on whether I have a good night out, if they play female pop artists I'll have fun. But I don't like the thought of being really drunk and not being in control of my body or my actions, scary. I guess I'm quite lucky that I'm a confident person and don't need alcohol to dance and go out. But 8/10 I hate what alcohol does to people, it's toxic, Britney warned us. And I hate that everyone expects everyone to drink, like it's a thing everyone should do, why? And it's a surprise when someone doesn't drink. And I hate when people make me feel guilty for not drinking, why should I feel guilty for not poisoning my body!? Also bit random but I really don't agree with alcohol being served on public transport, especially planes. I think overall the world would be safer and nicer without alcohol!
The majority of my friends love a good drink and now over to my fab No1GuestBlogger Sarah who is definitely one of them!!! (If anyone knows Sarah, you know)
No1GuestBlogger Sarah's verdict on my opinion;
I have to confess, this is one of the reasons I actually question mine and Harry's friendship sometimes, because I am a massive fan of any kind of alcohol I can get my hands on, and a lot of my friendships involve copious amounts of wine and Weatherspoon’s 2 for £12 pitchers. There has been maybe one or two times me and Harry have been out, and I’ve convinced him to have a drink (other than lemonade), but I guess it would be so boring if everyone had the same tastes in everything. To be a university student, and not drink is an incredible achievement, especially with the horrendous amounts of peer pressure I can only presume come with not drinking. Harry is one of a kind anyway, and any substance that takes anything away from his personality is not okay with me, also means he can look after me when I’m smashed xxxxx

What did you guys have to say?
Each month I do a twitter poll to see what you guys think, I hashtag with #NO1UO. Glad to see I managed to get a wider gap this month, still not as unpopular as my pets opinion, I have got another one which I think might top THE pet opinion..
No1 Lesson of the Month
It's half fate and half your own god damn fault! Fate has always been something I've changed my opinion and mind on regularly. But I think we can only blame and thank half of our life on fate. Most people reading this are probably living in the UK or other first world countries which we can thank fate for, but what we do with that is up to us! Sometimes bad things happen in life which you can't control, and nothing will prepare you for, but other times it could be through your own actions this has happened. Although there are many things we can't control, there are also so many we can, and we ain't got no excuse to be sitting around expecting fate to achieve our dreams for us! Basically, understand you can't control everything, and stuff happens, that's life, but you've also gotta put something in to get something out. Don't get hung up on bad things that happen that aren't your fault, because there is nothing you can do, and understand that it is your life and you can change it whenever you want.
GOODBYE (Oh and about that surprise I was talking about)
